The smallest change in a performance measurement that is considered meaningful (e.g., the minimum change in CMJ jump height considered important beyond normal variation). A device’s ability to detect these minimum meaningful changes in performance is often assessed by comparing Typical Error (TE) to SWC. If TE is less than SWC, then the device is considered accurate for detecting meaningful changes in performance. If TE is greater than SWC, then the device is not considered accurate for detecting meaningful changes in performance (1).
