Private Cello Lessons in Oakland · San Jose · San Francisco
Suzuki Method & Traditional Method · Children to Adults · Personalized 1:1 Lessons
Hello! I offer private cello lessons in Oakland and San Jose areas, with availability in San Francisco as well.
I currently serve as an Early Childhood Program (ECP) Instructor in the Pre-College Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), where I teach young students, and also serve as Suzuki Cello Faculty at Crowden Music School. I am also a Registered Suzuki Cello Teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) and have completed professional Suzuki Teacher Training.
Previously, I taught cello in the Pre-College Department at both the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (UC-CCM). I also performed as a One-Year Section Cello member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO).
With over 10 years of teaching experience, I work with students from young beginners to adults, offering personalized instruction based on each student's age, level, and goals. Lessons can support recreational study, Suzuki training, school orchestra, Youth Orchestra and All-State auditions, competitions, recitals, and preparation for music programs and college auditions.
As a Registered Suzuki Cello Teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), I have completed professional Teacher Training in the philosophy and pedagogy of the Suzuki Method.
The Suzuki Method is not simply a method of learning repertoire or using a particular set of books. Suzuki teachers complete specialized Teacher Training in the educational philosophy and teaching methods of the Suzuki approach. Through formal Teacher Training and Teaching Observation, I have studied the principles and teaching practices of the Suzuki Method and incorporate them into my teaching.
