Chapter 1 - A Christmas Gift

“What do you want for Christmas dear?” asked Mom for she was in a good mood on the Christmas Eve. “Yes!” added Dad, “anything” snapped Mom, “your budget is 2000 dollars.” I said I wanted a dog. Then, at midnight I heard a cowering noise and right under my feet I found an enormous box with a note: FOR MICHAEL: I opened the box and said “Welcome Specs.” He was my Christmas gift, Specs the Golden Retriever (dog breed).

Chapter 2 - What’s his name Dear?

‘Specs!’ I repeated for the fourth time, for my Mom had asked me ‘What’s his name dear?’ Mom then leaned over to me and said in my ear ‘is it just because your father wears Specs?!’ whatever I replied. And in my mind I thought his name was ‘Specs’ and I got the name from nowhere! ‘Michael!’ my Dad called me and I obeyed his words, I was sure we’re planning for something.

Chapter 3 - A dog and a kitten!

That’s when my sister, Clora Agnes, came down the stairs yawning away, she was also rubbing her eyes. When she opened her eyes, she shouted ‘what! A dog! Impossible! This is a dream! Mom then said ‘stop this Clora! Now what’s the matter?’ “Come here you!’ she pointed at me, followed her to her room and to my surprise I found that her Christmas gift was a… ‘Kitten’ I screamed and Specs came up worried about the screaming. ‘Melon run!’ Clora shouted after looking at Specs for the 2nd time. ‘Specs won’t hurt Melon’ I said and when Clora was sure that Specs won’t hurt Melon, We shouted at the same time ‘Specs!’ and ‘Melon!’

Chapter 4 - Walking at the same pace!

Then, together we went for a walk with the pets. There happened a miracle. Our paces matched perfectly! And we went to the park to have some fun but Melon just camouflaged in the white snow for she was a Persian cat and Specs got hidden in the bright sun, so that we had to find for half an hour! Even our parents couldn’t believe their ears! Like we couldn’t believe our eyes! Chapter 5 - Tropical beach in an island Days passed and we were to go to Hawaii as my dad planned on Christmas. Soon enough we were flying there from San Francisco after the boring train time and for the pets (poor kids) were scolded severely. “Hawaii is a very tropical place!” was my remark! Then the whole day turned dark and the grandfather clock, in our hotel, remarked it was 12. We also had the next day in the… Amazing Water!

Chapter 6 - Hawaiian Islands’ Pizza

Hawaiian Pizza is my all-time favorite and I was surprised to find a Pizza on wheels in each island we went on the boat trip and the Pizzas were… Pizzalicious!

Chapter 7 - Kilauea’s burst!

The next night, me, Clora, Specs and Melon were squashing our noses in the window. Just then our eyes widened, it was the Volcano Kilauea erupting after 150 years! ‘Dad!’ we screamed. He came and saw the eruption followed by Mom. ‘Run!’ he shouted and we followed him. We let ourselves out of the hotel and Dad threw the key right in the center of the receptionist’s doughnut. ‘Run!’ Dad started again. Once more we saw the eruption and ran for the taxi, the taxi driver was escaping too, but we caught the taxi. The driver showed us Mauna Kea and told us show it to him while he was driving in the ashes. I pointed out at a mountain or a volcano and when ashes covered the taxi hit a sign board. ,. Clora read that out loud, ‘you fool!’ Mom smacked me hard on my head and went to tears and hugged me tight. Just then Specs sprang out of the window he wanted to save a man! The lava was eating him! And at last we saved the man and admitted in Hawaii hospital near Mauna Kea one of the active volcanoes of Hawaii!

Chapter 8 - The last ferry

Now, we ran right to the ferry as fast as our legs could carry us, we used the ferry because Hawaii International airports were burnt down. The ferry tickets were free to save lives! And the last ferry was almost going to shift to San Francisco! Other boats were following too, even the hospital boat was following right behind us with the man we admitted. We all saw the end of Hawaii as tears trickled down our cheeks! Soon it was San Francisco in less than a month! That was unbelievable we crossed the Pacific!

Chapter 9 - San Francisco

Everyone sighed with relief, ‘it is the end of Hawaii after all!’ said Dad sighing again… We stayed in San Francisco for a few days for Melon was sick and Clora was making a flood in the resort’s room where we stayed, but Melon was all the same, both of us knew it, it was me and Specs. When the vet was clear that melon is well, Clora’s floods turned into joy! “Now we have to leave this place and shift to New York as soon as possible because Specs doesn’t feel well here! He thinks this place is damn scorching hot!” I would agree with his remark from his barks! of course.

Chapter 10 - Back in New York

Calmness came to us when we came to New York border. ‘This is New York, the best of all time!’ I said handing Spec’s leash to Clora who was bored because Melon was sleeping comfortably in her basket. We reached home at 8:52 whilst the time in San Francisco was 5:52! Then the next evening Hawaiian disaster was on the news and I found that 2,742 people were dead because the Kilauea’s rock made a crater in a cruise which cruised by, the rock made a hole and it was a cruistanic!

Chapter 11 - Clora’s Birthday

Soon it was Clora’s birthday, Mom and Dad bought her a RC car just because she wanted one. And Melon got her a peacock feather! Probably Melon just tore it off from Mom’s fancy peacock feather earring. Mom didn’t seem to mind that. Specs got her a rare leaf from a rare plant! Maybe he found it in the park. I bought her an expensive skateboard set (with a helmet) and even bought one for myself just because I had 2100 dollars!
