About the very first session, Friday 31 July.

This one is an introduction. Here is the plan:

  1. Welcome, and we introduce ourselves
  2. An overview of how the dojo works
  3. We get to know each other, and find out who wants to build alongside Roy
  4. We go over the project together
  5. If there is time, we start building, and anybody who wants to can come off mute and join in

We may not finish a build that night, and that is fine. There is nothing to prepare.

What Detail
A laptop Mac, Windows or Linux. All three work fine.
GitHub and an editor Both free. Any editor you already use is the right one.
One AI tool Claude, Codex, Gemini, Cursor, or Ollama which is free.
An open mind The only one nobody can install for you.

Do not worry if you have none of it. This is day one for all of us. If you turn up without an editor, without GitHub, or without an AI tool, we work it out together on the day. Nobody is expected to arrive already set up.

Optional, always. In the audience you have no camera, so there is nothing to do. If you are brought up to speak, one appears, and turning it on is your choice.

0:08 Build. Everybody builds, Roy included.
Every 10 minutes Check-in. Where is everyone, and who is stuck.
Last 10 minutes Share what you got working, then a quick poll on what we build next.

If you do not finish

Most people do not, most weeks. Carry on in your own time and bring it back, or we pick it up together next week.
