My inspiration comes from a screensaver I remember seeing on our CRT television as a child. A shape moved across the screen and bounced off its edges. I turned that movement into a continuous line that leaves its path behind, allowing the drawing to accumulate over time.
I am interested in the associations and expectations that arise while watching this process. As the lines repeat, cross, and overlap, we may begin to see an object, a space, or even a face. A new line might then change that impression. I want viewers to notice whether they are searching for familiar shapes or expecting the next line to complete something they think they see.
I used a larger canvas, a dark blue background, and slightly thicker, translucent white lines to make the paths and their overlapping changes easier to observe. Through this piece, I want to explore how simple repetition creates complex patterns, and how our minds actively find order and meaning within them.
