Brief

Play precedes culture. It emerges through stories, images, gestures, materials, rules, rituals and activities embedded in everyday life. Every game temporarily reorganises what is possible by establishing actors, objects, boundaries, and consequences. In this sense, play becomes an act of world-building and storytelling.

The studio begins with fragments of everyday reality where students will observe, measure, scan, record and reinterpret these fragments, asking: What is being played here, and what other worlds might emerge from it?

Through 3D modelling, drawing, and model-making, these observations will develop into constructed Worlds in which familiar objects, spaces, and activities acquire new roles and possibilities. Like an early 2D video game, the entire World need not be shown. Instead, students will design specific fragments, sections and zoom-ins into a larger imagined reality—using plans, sections, sectional axonometrics, 3D drawings and physical models to construct and communicate their stories.
