Frequently Asked Questions
📍 Location & Geofence
Q: Why does the app need my location?
Your location is used to fetch accurate weather data for where you are right now. Without location access, the app cannot provide personalised forecasts or alerts.
Q: What's the difference between "When In Use" and "Always Allow"?
- When In Use: Weather data is only fetched when the app is open. This is fine for basic use.
- Always Allow: Required for the geofence feature — the app detects when you leave home and sends a weather briefing notification. If you want departure alerts, you'll need "Always Allow."
Q: How do I set up the home geofence?
- Tap the house icon (🏠) in the top-right of the Dashboard
- Search for your address or tap directly on the map
- Adjust the geofence radius with the slider (default: 30 meters)
- Tap Save Geofence & Close
- Make sure the geofence toggle is turned ON on the Dashboard
Q: Can I change my home location?
Yes! Tap the house icon anytime to open the map and set a new location. The previous one will be replaced.
Q: The geofence alert isn't working. What should I do?
- Make sure location access is set to "Always Allow" in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Smart Weather Planner
- Make sure the geofence toggle is ON on the Dashboard
- Geofence alerts require you to physically leave the radius area — they don't trigger while you're stationary inside it
