Getting started

  1. Pick a start and a finish on the map. Any two points on Earth — Trekko builds the route between them.
  2. Walk like you normally do. Steps come from Apple Health, so you don't need to open the app or press start.
  3. Watch your dot move along the route. The map shows exactly where you "are".

My steps aren't moving the route

This is almost always Health permissions. Trekko reads two things from Apple Health: Steps and Walking + Running Distance. Both must be allowed.

Distance looks different from my step counter

Trekko uses the walking distance Apple Health records, not steps multiplied by an average stride. Health calculates that from your motion sensors, so it won't exactly match a "steps × stride length" figure from another app. Neither number is wrong — they're measured differently.

You can switch between kilometres and miles in Settings → Measurement.

Challenges

Creating one: open the Challenges tab, tap CREATE, pick a route. You'll get a code and an invite link to share.

Joining one: tap ENTER CODE and paste either the code or the whole link a friend sent you. Both work.

Who sees what: everyone in a challenge sees the display name, photo and progress of everyone else. Anyone holding the invite code can join, so share it only with people you want in. Use a nickname and no photo if you'd rather stay anonymous.
