Project Description

This project focuses on developing and applying essential Linux system administration skills on the Ubuntu operating system. Since Linux powers the majority of cloud servers, mastering its administrative commands and operations is fundamental for effective server management, troubleshooting, and maintaining system performance.

step 1: launch My EC2 Instance

The first step I took was to log into my AWS Management Console. From there, I launched two EC2 instances which I named:

server01

server02

I selected Ubuntu as the operating system and used t2.micro instance type for testing. While setting up, I made sure to configure the security group to allow:

SSH (port 22) so I could connect with MobaXterm

ICMP traffic so that ping monitoring would work

Once launched, I copied down the public IP addresses of both servers.

Step 2: Connecting to My Servers with MobaXterm

I opened MobaXterm on my laptop and connected to server01 and server02 using SSH.

For each connection, I pasted the public IP address.

I authenticated with the .pem key file I downloaded during the instance setup.

I successfully logged in as ec2-user.
