🗳️ Attendance
<aside>
🗳️
Attendance is a crucial part of the role you are taking on as a Tech Fellow (TF). Showing up consistently and on time reflects professionalism, respect for your peers and students, and commitment to creating a reliable and engaging learning environment.

❗️Expectations
- Arrive Early: Be present at least 5 minutes before the start of each class session. (You are paid for those 5 minutes)
- Communicate Proactively: Notify your Tech Fellow Manager (TFM) of any planned or unexpected absences. (More on this below)
- Consistency Matters: Attendance is not only about being present but also being prepared and contributing to the overall experience.
😶🌫️ Absences and Communication
- Allowance: Each Tech Fellow has a set amount of absences with no justification required (planned or unplanned):
- TIP TFs - 3 absences.
- ST TFs - 2 absences.
- Note: For TIP TF’s supporting more than one section a day, you incur only 1 absence for the day if you need to be absent. If you’re only missing 1 section and are planning to attend the others you staff that day, you can still bill for the hours you do end up working.
- Absence Process:
- Fill out the 📝 absence form.
- Notify your TFM directly through Slack.
- Notice Period: Planned absences should be communicated to your assigned TFM at least 24 hours in advance.
- Unplanned absences: In the event of unforeseen circumstances, please notify your TFM as soon as possible regarding your absence.
- If you're experiencing ongoing challenges that affect attendance, please discuss with your TFM to explore solutions
- Beyond Allowance: Any absences beyond the amount permitted may result in the removal from the Tech Fellow role and will require management approval (TFM, IPM) to continue.
❓Why Attendance Matters
- For Students: Creating a consistent and reliable learning experience
- For Peers: Builds trust, accountability, and sense of teamwork.
- For the Program: Demonstrates professionalism and sets the high standards expected in the tech industry.
