Destiny tested me again, painted me into a corner with a shining grin.
So I went underground.
To the bottom of the earth, I sank — through loose debris and broken pillars that sealed my vessel shut.
So far below, still reaching for something, someone, just to see the sun again.
Can’t you see? I live the way I choose. I know I should refuse it all, but would I still be myself then?
Up and up and up and up — why does climbing always make me feel lower?
Take a picture of nothing. That’s all I am. Alone again, walking some endless road toward a destiny that might be yours, or mine, or no one’s at all.
Now I sit in silence, my void humming static. Too many thoughts, too little air. Heartburn with nobody to calm it down.
It feels the same as it always has.
Your life will move forward, but will you forget me when it does?
I’ll make myself the target. I’ll contain it. Fake it. Wear masks until the curtains finally collapse.
I’ll take this as far as it goes.
And when you smile, I hope something in you still thinks of me.
My God, it’s going to get bad.
That’s right. Live with it. Every day.
Too late in every way.
Not my fault. Maybe everybody says that.
I feel everything and nothing you want me to feel.
