Final Reflection

When I started the Technical Leadership Acceleration Program, I viewed leadership primarily as being the person who could solve technical problems and provide answers. Throughout the program, I learned that effective technical leadership is less about being the person with the solution and more about empowering others through collaboration, communication, and support. I strengthened my ability to ask thoughtful questions, give constructive feedback, and understand the perspectives and needs of the communities I work with before designing solutions. Through this process, I shifted from focusing only on what I could accomplish individually to considering how my technical skills could create meaningful impact for others. For my Impact Project, I built an interactive actuarial career planning tool to help undergraduate students navigate actuarial exams, coursework, and study planning, especially at universities without actuarial science programs. This project allowed me to combine my interests in mathematics, computer science, and education while creating a resource designed around the challenges students face. I now define technical leadership as using my skills to build solutions that make complex pathways more accessible and help others succeed.
