The Finance Department governs Bangwing IN's economic model, membership structure, and the principles that ensure all community resources are managed transparently and reinvested for the community's benefit. Bangwing IN operates on a community-first economic model, structured around the principles defined in Section II below: no pay-to-win advantages, voluntary contribution, and transparent fund allocation.
Every contribution made by members is treated as an investment in the shared community, not undisclosed personal profit. The Finance Department establishes expectations for financial conduct, membership perks, donation ethics, and the long-term economic vision of the server.
| # | Principle | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Community-First Economic Model | All financial contributions — memberships, donations, and support — are reinvested into community infrastructure, programming, and operations, which may include staff compensation under the hybrid structure established in the Constitution & Governance, Rule 11. No funds are diverted for undisclosed personal profit outside this structure. |
| 2 | No Pay-to-Win | Premium membership and financial support provide access, recognition, and cosmetic perks — never competitive advantages, moderation immunity, or superior treatment under community rules. |
| 3 | Transparency and Accountability | The community has a right to know how its contributions are used. Bangwing IN commits to transparent communication about fund allocation through appropriate channels, with defined response timelines. |
| 4 | Voluntary Contribution | All financial contributions are entirely voluntary. Members are never pressured, guilt-tripped, or socially coerced into purchasing memberships or donating. |
| 5 | Ethical Commerce | Any internal economy, marketplace, or monetized feature must operate ethically — with honest representation, fair exchange, and no exploitative mechanics targeting younger or financially vulnerable members. |
All rules apply at all times. Ignorance of a rule does not exempt a member from consequences. Intent is considered in determining severity of response — but does not determine whether a rule applies.
No member shall be pressured, coerced, guilt-tripped, or socially manipulated into purchasing a membership, donating, or spending money on any Bangwing IN feature.
| Category | Details |
|---|---|
| Allowed | Sharing membership benefits honestly and accurately when contextually relevant · Letting members make fully informed, voluntary decisions at their own pace · Acknowledging members who contribute financially without using it to imply others are lesser |
| Prohibited | Implying that non-paying members are less valued or less committed to the community · Staff suggesting membership as a way to reduce or avoid moderation consequences · Publicly shaming members for not contributing financially · Creating artificial urgency or fear-of-missing-out pressure around paid features |
| Prohibited (Absolute) | Threatening adverse treatment — including moderation targeting, exclusion, or reputational harm — against a member unless they purchase a membership or make a financial contribution |
| Consequences | Single pressure comment or implication — coaching; no formal penalty · Repeated guilt-tripping or shame tactics — formal warning · Staff using membership as leverage for moderation leniency — immediate role review; see Rule 2 · Coordinated social pressure campaign to coerce financial contributions — formal warning; timeout for all involved; escalation to senior staff |
| Exceptions | (Only if applicable — leave blank if none) |
| Moderation Action Reasons | Do not pressure, guilt-trip, shame, or socially coerce members into purchasing membership or making financial contributions. All contributions are strictly voluntary. Implying that non-paying members are less valued, creating artificial urgency, or threatening adverse treatment to induce payment is a violation of the community's voluntary contribution commitment. |
