TokenTrim – Privacy Policy

Your prompts are not stored, and prompt text never leaves your browser.

What TokenTrim does

TokenTrim is a Chrome extension that compresses the text you type into the prompt box on chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com before you send it. All processing happens locally, inside the web page, using a rule-based rewriter that ships with the extension.

Data we collect

None. TokenTrim does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data, prompt text, browsing activity or usage analytics. There is no account, no server and no telemetry.

Data stored on your device

• Settings (enabled/disabled, optimization mode, per-site toggles, display options).
• Savings statistics: the number of prompts optimized and total token counts before and after optimization, aggregated per day and per site.

These are stored only in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) on your device. Prompt text is never written to storage. You can reset the statistics at any time from the extension's settings page, and removing the extension deletes everything.

Permissions

• storage – to save your settings and the savings statistics locally.
• Access to chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai and gemini.google.com – required to read the text in the prompt box on those sites, show the token counter and replace the text with the optimized version when you ask it to. The extension does not run on any other website.

Third parties

TokenTrim makes no network requests of its own and integrates with no third-party services. The AI websites you use continue to operate under their own privacy policies.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address and the effective date above will be updated.
