Across hives, regardless of strain players will notice unique Hive Vents. These vents are primary travel points within a hive that allow members to quickly fast travel across vents. Destroying vents does actually prevent hives from fast travelling there, which players can abuse to quickly prevent reinforcements during an attack on the surface for example.

Once an Empress is present, and supply lines are formed, vents become a key part of it as they are used largely to send resources and xenomorphs across hives. Using this knowledge players are able to cut off supplies to younger hives from the source should they manage to remove the vents within the Empress Hive.

However, vents are largely used for defensive responses, raids and parties from hives and won’t easily be taken down unless there are truly no members avaliable to respond to you destroying it. In the case of an active, healthy hive a player should use explosives or other means to destroy the vent from range.

Within a hive countless vents are present, hidden behind the resin webs. This makes them incredibly hard to locate should you attempt to try and destroy them all.
