Michael's Curated Hook Bank

You're not "giving tips." You're sharing something that happened to you. These work because they feel accidental, not performative.

3 buckets. ~20 hooks total.

BUCKET 1 — Story / Confession Hooks

1. "It took me [X] years to figure out what I'm about to say in the next minute." → Stakes + specificity. The viewer feels like they're getting a shortcut.

2. "Here's the story of how I accidentally [outcome]." → "Accidentally" is doing heavy lifting — it signals no agenda, no pitch. Just a thing that happened.

3. "So I just [personal action] and I'm only now realizing [opinion]." → Confession framing. You're not an expert explaining — you're someone processing something in real time.

4. "I spent the last [X months/years] chasing [goal], and I finally realized something that changed everything." → Transformation arc opener. Withholds the revelation — they have to stay.

5. "After [X] years of going back and forth between [thing 1] and [thing 2], I finally [did something] — because I realized one thing." → Strong resolution hook. The "one thing" is the open loop.

6. "A year ago I was [struggling with X] every single night because I couldn't [overcome the problem]. Here's what actually changed." → Before/after with emotional texture. "Every single night" makes it real, not abstract.

7. "I recently [personal outcome], and honestly? It's really not that great." → Subverts expectation. The viewer's entire assumption gets flipped in one sentence.

8. "[X] years ago I got completely consumed by [thing] because I'd never felt more [emotion] in my life." → Vulnerable opener. Emotion first, lesson second — that's what earns trust.

BUCKET 2 — Contrarian / Myth-Busting Hooks

You're not debating. You're correcting something the viewer already half-believes is wrong. Best for early career, networking, and tech content.

1. "Everybody telling you [common advice] is lying to you." → Short, direct, picks a side immediately. No hedging.

2. "They said just [popular wisdom]. That's a lie." → Five words. Full stop. The rest of the video is the proof.
