What is Featherlight?

We’re a small student team from Hongik University producing a fantasy genre 3D animated short film!

Tagline: The moment difference becomes light.

Logline: In Nestville, a sky village with white feathered bird fairies, one fairy, Lumi, keeps plucking away her odd, colorful feathers that keep growing back. When danger strikes the village, that same light is the only thing that can save it.

Story Message: A rigid system built on uniformity begins to fail, and only stabilizes when it allows differences to coexist.

Recording Process

• Actors are paid $40/hour, plus an additional $20 for filming facial acting as reference material for our animators. As this is a student film, we have a tight budget but we are open to negotiation if needed.
• Recording is done via live-directed sessions over Discord: you'll get real-time direction from us rather than just sending in a pre-recorded file.
• The film has approximated under 10 lines per character (not counting non-verbal sounds like breaths/gasps).
• We'll schedule sessions according to your timezone to respect your time and keep them efficient.
• There are a few one-liner background characters we might ask you to record depending on vocal range.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Audition recordings must be with your own unedited voice, without any voice changing/AI. Our creative team is against using AI synthetic voices for main production, and is happy to sign an voice anti-AI rider.
• Good microphone/recording setup: we're looking for clean audio with minimal background noise. Please send a raw studio sample in your audition.
• Comfortable being filmed during the live session for facial reference. This footage is for internal animation reference only, and deleted after production.
• No prior experience required: we're happy to work with newer talent as long as you can bring the character to life!
