Is it because you look up to your dad so much that if he didn’t have what it takes, your chance instantly becomes much lower?

When you keep telling your son that he’ll also suck at the things that you weren’t good at, you’re passing down the same limited belief to him like you were told as a kid. That is the cause of a generational cycle.

Not really.

You might have gotten that mindset because you were emotionally abused (such as: blaming, emotional blackmail, humiliation). Those traumatic events are the root causes — mostly caused by the toxic people in your life — family, friends, coworkers, even teachers.
