Overview

WriteWeft is a local-first writing and note-taking application. Your notes and data stay on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal information on external servers. This policy explains what data the app stores locally, what device permissions it uses, and why.

Data We Do Not Collect

WriteWeft does not:

• Collect your name, email address, or any identifying information
• Create or require a user account
• Transmit your notes, documents, or attachments to any server
• Track your usage, reading habits, or writing patterns
• Send analytics, telemetry, or crash reports to third parties
• Sync or back up your data to the cloud
• contain advertising or advertising identifiers
• Share any data with third parties

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All data WriteWeft creates is stored entirely on your device, in a folder you choose. You control where this folder lives and can move, back up, or delete it at any time.

Your Notes and Attachments

• Markdown and plain-text files (.md, .txt) are stored as readable files in your folder.
• Images, sketches, and other attachments are stored in an assets/ sub-folder inside your folder.
• Deleted notes are moved to trash and are not permanently deleted until you empty the trash.

App Settings and Preferences

WriteWeft saves your preferences locally on your device using your operating system's standard settings storage (NSUserDefaults on macOS/iOS, SharedPreferences on Android). These preferences include:

• Theme and appearance settings (color theme, font, font size)
• Writing mode settings (focus mode, typewriter scroll)
• The path to your folder
• Open tabs and session state
• Custom word list for the writing assistant

No preference data is transmitted externally.
