Black Screen Recorder ("we", "our", or "the App") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your data, permissions, and security.
- Local Recording & Privacy by Design
Black Screen Recorder is designed as a local recording utility.
- Local Processing: Audio and video recordings are captured and processed directly on your device hardware using standard Android camera and media APIs.
- No Developer Recording Server: We do not operate developer-controlled servers, cloud databases, or remote media-processing systems for your recordings. Your recordings are not uploaded to Oshie Labs.
- No User Accounts: The App does not require you to create an account, register, or provide personal credentials (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use the App.
- Recording Storage and Protection
- Private Internal Storage: When you record video or audio, files are saved by default in the App's isolated private internal storage directory (filesDir/recordings). Files in this directory are not indexed by the public Android media gallery and are not accessible to other standard applications on your device.
- User-Initiated Export and Sharing: You may choose to export or share individual recordings. When you export a recording to shared public storage (such as your device's Movies or Music folder) or share a recording via another application, that copy leaves the App's private sandbox and becomes subject to the permissions and privacy practices of the chosen destination or application.
- Backup Protection: Recordings stored in the App's private recordings directory are configured to be excluded from Android automatic backup and device-to-device transfer mechanisms.
- Background Recording
Background Recording allows a user to start an active recording while Black Screen Recorder is in the foreground and continue that recording after leaving the App or switching tasks, subject to Android device and operating-system behavior.
- In accordance with Android platform requirements, an active Foreground Service status notification is continuously displayed in your device notification panel while a recording is in progress.
- This notification provides real-time recording status and a direct control to stop and save the recording.
- The App does not conceal Android system privacy indicators, such as the camera or microphone indicator dot.
- Device Permissions and How They Are Used
The App requests only the device permissions necessary to perform its recording and utility functions:
- Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Used when you choose video recording mode to capture camera frames.
- Microphone (android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO): Used during audio recording and video recording with microphone audio.
- Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_CAMERA, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MICROPHONE): Used to maintain an active recording session and prevent unexpected interruption by the operating system.
- Notifications (android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to display the ongoing recording status notification and stop controls while recording is active.
- Biometric & Fingerprint (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT): Used to provide optional biometric verification through Android's system authentication framework before displaying the recordings library.
