cntrl. is a keyboard-first daily workspace for macOS. Press ⌥ Space from anywhere and a small floating panel appears on the display with your cursor, showing today's tasks, your meeting agenda with one-click join buttons for video calls, and a quick notes scratchpad. Press the shortcut again or Esc and it's gone. It stays in the menu bar and never takes up space in your Dock.
Highlights
⌥ Space by default, with presets (⇧⌘ Space, ⌃ Space, ⌥ K) or record your own.⌥ ↑ / ↓), and complete tasks. Anything you didn't finish rolls over to the next day.Requirements: macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
Do I need an account or sign-in? No. There's no account, no login, and no server. Your tasks and notes stay on your Mac.
How do I open cntrl.?
Press ⌥ Space (Option + Space) from any app. You can change the shortcut in Settings. The panel appears on whichever display your cursor is on.
Why does cntrl. ask for Calendar access? So it can show today's meetings next to your tasks. Access is read-only: cntrl. never creates, edits, or deletes your events. If you decline, tasks and notes still work. You can change this later in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
Which calendars show up? Any calendar synced to the macOS Calendar app, including iCloud, Google, Exchange, and others you've added in System Settings → Internet Accounts.
