Data we process
Depending on how you use the app, we process the following categories of data:
- Music library data: with your permission, iana reads the music library on your device to show your albums, pick albums for you, and build playlists. This data is stored on your device and, for playlists you create, in your own Apple Music account.
- Analytics data, only with your consent: anonymous in-app usage events, such as which features you use or the title, artist, and genre of an album you play. Analytics are off by default, and events are not linked to a person profile.
- Diagnostic data: crash and error reports, including device and operating-system information.
Why we use data
We use this data only for the following purposes:
- Show your music, pick albums, and create the playlists you ask for.
- Understand how features are used and improve the app, only with your consent.
- Keep the app stable and diagnose crashes and errors.
Where your data is stored
- On your device: iana keeps a local copy of your music data so the app starts quickly. Your settings also stay on your device.
- In your Apple Music account: playlists that iana creates at your request are added to your own Apple Music library, under Apple's terms.
- In your photo library: when you save an image of your shuffle result, iana asks for permission to add images to your photo library. Saved images go only into your own photo library.
- With our providers: analytics events are stored by PostHog in the European Union (Frankfurt), and crash reports are stored by Sentry.
Apart from the optional analytics and the crash reports described here, the app does not send data to us or to anyone else.
