Threadit is a browser extension that converts a Reddit post and its comment thread into a Markdown document, which you can download or hand to Claude or ChatGPT for analysis.
This policy explains exactly what the extension does and does not do with your data.
The content of the Reddit threads you convert never leaves your browser. Post titles, comment text, usernames, subreddit names and URLs are never sent to us or to any third party. They are processed locally in your browser and delivered to whichever destination you chose — a file on your computer, or the chat you clicked a button to open.
We collect anonymous product analytics: counts of which features were used and whether they succeeded. Nothing in that data identifies you, and nothing in it describes what you read.
We do not sell or share your data. We do not serve ads. There is no account and no login.
All of the following is stored locally by your browser, using the extension storage
permission. None of it is transmitted to us.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The converted Markdown of a thread | To pass the thread from the Reddit tab to the chat tab you just opened. A thread is far too large to pass through a URL. Deleted as soon as the chat tab claims it, and discarded entirely after two minutes. Never written to disk. |
| Your daily usage count | To apply the free tier’s daily limit and reset it at your local midnight. Stores a date and a number. |
| Your Pro license key | So you do not have to re-enter it, and so it can be re-validated periodically. |
Uninstalling the extension removes all of it.
If you buy Pro and activate a license key, that key is sent to Dodo Payments, our payment provider, to confirm it is valid. It is re-checked periodically so that a refunded or revoked key stops unlocking Pro. Only the key you typed is sent. Your purchase itself is handled entirely by Dodo Payments — we never see or store your card details. See Dodo Payments’ privacy policy.
Threadit reads the thread you are viewing directly from Reddit, using your existing browser session, in the same way the page itself does. It sends nothing to Reddit beyond that request.
When you click “Analyse with Claude” or “Analyse with ChatGPT”, the converted thread is placed into that service’s chat composer — as a file attachment for Claude, or via your clipboard for ChatGPT. Threadit never sends the message for you. The thread and prompt are put in front of you, and you decide whether to press Enter. Once you do, the thread is subject to that service’s own privacy policy: Anthropic · OpenAI.
