This policy covers Nenrin for iOS (“the app”). In one sentence: the app collects no data about you. Your diary, the photos it shows and the settings you change stay on your own devices and in your own iCloud; the developer cannot access any of it.
What we don't collect
The app has no accounts and no developer-run server. It contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services and no third-party SDKs. The app's code makes no network requests at all.
We therefore do not collect, store, transmit or sell any information about you — not your diary text, photos, location, device identifiers or usage. The App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected”.
What the app handles on your device
Everything below is processed locally, on your device, to make the app work, and never leaves your device unless you choose an iCloud Drive folder yourself (see the next section).
- Diary files*: plain-text Markdown, one
MM-DD.md file per day of the year. By default they live in the app's own Documents folder, visible in the Files app; you can instead point the app at a folder in iCloud Drive in Settings. The app reads and writes that one folder only.
- Photos*: if you grant photo access, the app reads photos taken on the same calendar day as the page you are viewing and shows thumbnails under the entry. Opening one full-screen writes a temporary preview copy to the app's temporary directory, which is cleared the next time the viewer opens. The app only reads photos — it never modifies, deletes or uploads them, and never writes them into a diary file.
- Reminders*: if you turn on the nightly reminder, the app schedules a local notification at the time you choose. No push server is involved.
- Widget*: the “On This Day” widget reads a small summary of today's page that the app writes into its App Group container on your device.
- Settings*: preferences such as text size and reminder time are stored on your device.
Permissions
- Photos* (optional): used only to show photos taken on that day. You can decline, or allow only selected photos; the diary works either way. Change it any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
- Notifications* (optional): used only for the nightly reminder.
- Folder access* (optional): when you choose an iCloud Drive folder in Settings, the system's file picker grants the app access to that folder. The app never touches any location you did not pick.
iCloud Drive
If you keep your diary in an iCloud Drive folder, Apple's iCloud syncs those files between your devices. That sync is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's privacy policy; the developer has no access to your iCloud account or its contents.
Retention and deletion
- Diary kept on the device: deleting the app deletes it. Export it first through the Files app or Finder if you want to keep it.
