About the role

As Odin grows, we are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build and own the workflows people use to run a jobsite. You will work across backend, web, and mobile development to deliver complete customer experiences rather than one technical layer.

This is a hands-on role. You will work with a product manager and a small group of engineers to understand customer problems, shape solutions, and carry them through production. You will write production code, make technical decisions, and own the quality and performance of what you build. Depending on the work, you may lead project delivery or contribute as a senior member of the team, with the context and autonomy to keep the work moving.

What you will do

• Build customer workflows end to end, moving across data models, APIs, web interfaces, and mobile experiences as the work requires.
• Partner with product while work is being shaped. Surface technical risks, test assumptions, and help define a project the team can deliver within its time budget.
• Turn shaped work into a technical plan, then stage it so the team can deliver useful, integrated increments rather than disconnected layers of the stack.
• Make pragmatic architecture and implementation decisions within the patterns the engineering team has established. Work with other engineers to improve those patterns when the product needs something better.
• Lead project delivery when the work calls for it. Keep decisions and progress visible, give other engineers meaningful ownership, and answer for whether the pieces become one coherent result.
• Own quality through design, implementation, release, and production. Build the tests, delivery checks, documentation, and safeguards that let the team change the work confidently after it ships.
• Release code safely using feature flags, incremental rollouts, observability, and rollback plans. Work with product on when a finished capability should become visible to customers.
• Operate what you build. Monitor production behavior, take part in the on-call rotation, respond calmly when something fails, and turn incidents into improvements that reduce the chance or impact of recurrence.
• Help other engineers get better through thoughtful reviews, technical writing, pairing, and direct feedback. Share enough context that the work does not depend on you being present.
• Improve how the team delivers. Automate recurring work, remove avoidable coordination, and make the systems you touch easier to understand, operate, and change.
• Build first-hand knowledge of how Odin's customers work. Visit jobsites, sit with workers and security teams, and watch the product in use in a guard booth or trailer. Carry that understanding into the tradeoffs you make.

What we are looking for

• You have shipped customer-facing software that crosses technical layers, with meaningful depth in at least two of backend, web, and mobile development and the ability to work effectively in the third.
• You have owned a substantial product workflow or project from technical design through production and can explain how you knew it was ready for customers.
• You make technical decisions by comparing real alternatives and their consequences. You can explain the choice clearly, change course when new evidence warrants it, and move the team forward when no option is perfect.
• You have guided other engineers through delivery, whether as a project lead, technical lead, or experienced contributor who made the plan and decisions legible to the group.
• You treat quality and operations as part of building the product. You have designed tests, staged releases, diagnosed production failures, and improved a system after learning how it failed.
• You understand the product behind the code. You can identify where a technical constraint affects the customer outcome and work with product to protect the outcome while changing the approach or scope.
• You help engineers around you become more capable. Your reviews, explanations, and feedback give people judgment they can reuse rather than instructions they can only follow once.
• You communicate clearly in writing and conversation. Your technical plans, reviews, incident updates, and tradeoff discussions leave people able to act.
• You use AI to accelerate your engineering without outsourcing your judgment. You understand, test, and refine the work it helps produce, and you answer for the code you ship.

Nice to have

• Experience with construction technology, access control, workforce management, or other software used on a jobsite.
• Experience at an early-stage startup where you helped improve engineering practices while continuing to ship product.
• Deep React Native experience, including native modules, store releases, over-the-air updates, and support for a long tail of devices.
• Experience integrating software with physical systems such as badge readers, access control panels, kiosks, cameras, or other connected devices.
• Experience with modular monolith patterns such as domain-driven design or CQRS.
• Experience using Postgres for high-volume event data, including query tuning and safe schema changes on heavily used tables.
• Experience with Shape Up or another delivery model where a team works within a fixed time budget and adjusts scope to protect the deadline and outcome.
