About Odin
Odin Labs, Inc. ("Odin") is the workforce visibility and compliance platform powering the next generation of infrastructure. As demand accelerates for AI data centers, clean energy projects, and large-scale construction, Odin provides the operational backbone for real-time workforce tracking, credential verification, site access, and compliance management. We experienced more than 7x revenue growth from 2024 to 2025, and 2026 has already surpassed 2025 growth.
Odin's growth is driven by rapid expansion and adoption of our software platform across complex, high-compliance construction environments. As we continue to see strong market momentum and growth in complex construction programs, Odin is preparing for its next stage of scale.
About the role
As Odin grows, we are hiring a Senior Design Engineer to research, design, and build the interfaces people use to run a jobsite. You will combine product-design judgment with production frontend engineering so our software is clear, coherent, and effective across the different screens and environments where customers use it.
Your work will move between customer-facing projects and the shared system behind them. You will establish Odin's design language and production design system, then prove and evolve it through real product work. You will create coded prototypes that make new interactions tangible, build responsive screens, and work with Software Engineers to connect those interfaces to the data, services, and business rules behind a complete workflow.
This is a hands-on senior role. You will work with a product manager and a small group of engineers to understand customer problems, shape solutions, and lead design-heavy projects through production. You will own the quality of the interfaces and shared frontend systems you build while helping the team deliver one coherent product.
What you will do
- Research customer work with Product, including direct observation and usability testing, then turn the evidence into clear interaction models and product decisions.
- Design responsive interfaces that help customers understand and complete complex work across desktop, tablet, mobile, touch, pointer, and keyboard input.
- Build coded prototypes with realistic mocked states so the team can test navigation, behavior, and product assumptions before every service is connected.
- Write production frontend code for complete screens and interaction flows, including loading, empty, error, permission, and recovery states.
- Establish and evolve Odin's design language through reusable tokens, components, patterns, documentation, and checks that teams can apply without depending on you.
- Improve existing product experiences as the design system develops, using adoption work to find weak abstractions and turn repeated product needs into durable shared capabilities.
- Work closely with Software Engineers on interface contracts and integration so frontend and backend work become one reliable customer workflow rather than disconnected layers.
- Shape and lead design-heavy product and design-system projects. Compare approaches, define the plan, keep decisions and risks visible, and answer for the quality of what ships.
- Build accessibility, performance, visual consistency, and responsive behavior into the way interfaces are designed, tested, released, and monitored.
- Use AI to accelerate research synthesis, exploration, prototyping, and design-system implementation while reviewing, testing, and refining everything it helps produce.
- Help engineers improve interface work through design and code reviews, pairing, documentation, and direct feedback that gives them judgment they can reuse.
- Operate what you build. Participate in the on-call rotation, diagnose production interface problems, and turn what the team learns into better components, safeguards, and product behavior.
What we are looking for
- Your portfolio shows customer-facing interfaces that you both designed and implemented in production, with enough context to explain the problem, evidence, decisions, and outcome.
- You have planned or conducted customer research and usability testing, synthesized what you learned, and changed a product or interaction model because of the evidence.
- You have built substantial responsive web interfaces and can explain how you handled accessibility, browser behavior, performance, and the full range of product states.
- You have established or materially improved a design language, component library, or production design system and can show how other teams adopted it.
- You use coded prototypes to answer product and interaction questions, not only to demonstrate visual polish, and you know when a prototype is ready to become production software.
- You have led a design-heavy product or design-system project from an ambiguous problem through implementation and adoption, keeping collaborators aligned as the work changed.
- You can divide interface and service work with other engineers while preserving a coherent architecture, shared contracts, and accountability for the finished customer experience.
- You treat quality and operations as part of building interfaces. You have designed automated checks, staged releases, diagnosed production problems, and improved a system after learning how it failed.
- You help designers and engineers around you become more capable. Your reviews, explanations, and feedback improve both the immediate work and how the team approaches the next problem.
- You use AI to accelerate your design and engineering without outsourcing your judgment. You can explain how you validate its output and remain accountable for what reaches customers.
Nice to have
- Experience designing and building mobile interfaces with React Native or another production mobile framework.
- Experience evolving a design system across several products or migrating established interfaces onto a new system without stopping feature delivery.
- Experience with data-dense operational software, complex permissions, or workflows people use while moving between an office and the field.
- Experience with construction technology, access control, workforce management, or other software used on a jobsite.
- Experience at an early-stage startup where you established a new design or engineering capability while continuing to ship product.
- Experience with Shape Up or another delivery model where a team works within a fixed time budget and adjusts scope to protect the deadline and outcome.
Our stack
You are not expected to have worked with everything listed below. You should bring deep experience designing and building for the web and be ready to learn what each project requires.
- Figma for interface design, prototyping, and our shared design system
- Claude Design for AI-assisted exploration, prototyping, and design-to-code workflows
- TypeScript end to end
- React and CSS on the web
- React Native and Expo on mobile
- Node.js and GraphQL service interfaces
- Datadog for observability
Benefits and eligibility
- Competitive salary package
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage for you and your family
- Flexible working hours and remote work options
- Generous vacation and paid time off policy
This role includes periodic travel to customer jobsites.
