The Amber Krowen are the native lapine-origin peoples of Amber Krowe and the cultural root-stock from which the Systems Alliance eventually emerges. In modern-era terms they read like “a species,” but in practice Amber Krowen is closer to a broad lineage: a long-cultivated civilization whose baseline traits are lapine, with a wide spectrum of stable hybrid offshoots that later become recognizable subtypes.
Deep-history canon frames Amber Krowen civilization as something grown in secrecy by Tanuki across an absurd timescale—millions of years of quiet nudges, protection, selection pressure, and deliberate shaping. The resulting society is not accidental evolution so much as a sustained, hidden project: a people developed until they became “ready” for the kind of interstellar state they would later build.

By the time the Alliance becomes a recognizable galactic power, the Amber Krowen are its demographic and institutional foundation—its homeworld population, its bureaucracy, and its default cultural assumptions about law, order, and “civilization.” Later member worlds add variety and scale, but the Alliance’s core identity still carries the imprint of its Amber Krowe origin.

A “Silver Krowen”, feline/lapine mix Krowen.
Amber Krowen lineages produce (or include) multiple hybridized subtypes. The most concretely established example is the Silver Krowen, a lapine–feline mix—most famously reflected in the form Ukatan chooses to inhabit while operating inside the Systems Alliance. Other hybrid lines exist or are implied, but remain undefined in current canon; the setting treats “Krowen” as an umbrella that can plausibly accommodate additional mixes as they’re invented.
