• 8+ technical and commercial conversations with Whirlpool contact
• Iterated and tested retrofit device to integrate more readily into Whirlpool machines
• Sent prototype to Global Systems Lab for testing using Whirlpool protocols

What We Learned

Businesses adopt sustainability only when it aligns with profit

• OEMs act only when driven by profit (regulation, cost savings, or differentiation).
• Environmental benefit alone is not a sufficient driver.
• Pet hair removal had more pull than microfiber mitigation.
