• Occurs when an offensive team in control causes the ball to go from the frontcourt into the backcourt and then:
  • A player from the offensive team is the first to touch the ball in the backcourt.
• The backcourt restriction does not apply when:
  • There is a jump ball
  • A shot attempt
  • A loose ball or tap during rebounding as there is no team control
• Penalty: Loss of possession and the ball awarded to the opposing team at a designated spot.
