When this page becomes useful

Research Notes is the working surface for observations, hypotheses, and cross-case candidates. This page should stay quiet until comparison has produced explanatory knowledge worth preserving separately.

A pattern belongs here only when:

  1. it proposes a mechanism rather than a shared topic;
  2. source cases and the unit of analysis are clear;
  3. conditions and boundary conditions are stated;
  4. a meaningful difference, partial match, contrasting case, or alternative explanation has been checked;
  5. promotion has been explicitly approved.

Case count is evidence of repetition, not proof of transfer.
