Ideate produced the feature set, the IA, and the control-model architecture. Design turned those decisions into a complete, usable interface โ the widget canvas, a design system, and hi-fi states across every condition the product can be in.
The work was organized around a set of named design decisions, each resolving a specific tension surfaced in research. Three of those decisions are trust-anchoring โ the decisions that make an AI-assisted money product defensible, and they shape every state the user sees. The remaining decisions are workflow-shaping โ they determine how the product feels in use, but the product would still hold together if any one of them were taken differently.
1. Fexi as Co-Pilot, Not Autopilot. The AI assistant is named, conversational, and visible โ but it never executes. Every Fexi recommendation is presented with its reasoning and a clear authorization step that belongs to the user. This is what makes the AI feel like an advisor instead of a system acting on you. It is also what the live build proves: code computes, Claude narrates, the user authorizes.
2. Crypto as Infrastructure, Never as Experience. The word "USDC," "wallet," "gas," "off-ramp," and "stablecoin" appear nowhere in the default flow. The product can use stablecoin rails for speed and cost โ but the sender sees dollars going out and local currency arriving. Routing details are an opt-in surface for power users, never a requirement.
3. Recipient-Amount Certainty Before Authorization. Every send shows the exact recipient amount in local currency, in the largest type on the canvas, before the send button is reachable. An estimate is not sufficient โ the recipient amount has to be exact, because research showed this is the single most-cited trust condition across all four participants.
These three are the ones that make FXpress defensible. The remaining design decisions โ the CTA hierarchy on the canvas, the Fexi card chips, the saved-triggers presentation, the Fexi mascot expression set โ shape the experience but don't carry the same load.
