A Double Whistle occurs when two officials blow their whistle on the same play. Double whistles can:

• Can cause confusion
• May lead to conflicting calls (especially on block/charge plays)

Officiating focus:

• Respect primary coverage areas
• Avoid unnecessary whistles on plays where you are the secondary official
• Communicate quickly if a double whistle occurs to prevent confusion
