Future School is a free, six-week virtual class about climate solutions in Los Angeles, created by West LA College’s Climate Center, Better Future Club, and BECAP.
These companion guides connect each topic to LA’s neighborhoods, policies, organizations, careers, and practical ways to participate. No background in climate science or policy is required. Throughout, our focus is on collective action, public policy, and the people already doing the work.
The live course has six sessions; some are split into shorter guides that are easy to revisit. Start with the TL;DR on each page, then open only the sections you want with the small triangles beside the headings.

About Our Sources
We’ve linked key claims throughout the guide so you can dig deeper if you’d like. Each guide also separates the sources we used from optional books, films, podcasts, maps, and other resources worth exploring.
These are living guides, subject to ongoing edits, revision and fact-checking. We identify uncertainty and disputed claims where relevant and update the guides as evidence and local conditions change. For current emergency instructions, services and deadlines, follow the linked official sources.
