High Impact Athletes (HIA) is a nonprofit founded by Olympians. We connect more than 430 elite athletes with the most effective, evidence-based charities in the world.
Our flagship programme, **Race for Impact (RFI)**, embeds peer-to-peer fundraising into HYROX fitness events across more than 18 countries. Everyday racers have raised over $8 million across more than 80 HYROX events.
We are a small, fast team. Everyone ships. We use Claude Code as a first-class part of our engineering workflow, while keeping human judgment and verification at the centre.
RFI runs on a wide production estate: a fundraising platform, Raisely, that we extend with custom components; a fleet of Cloudflare Workers doing webhook processing, synchronisation and reconciliation; donation checkout flows across Stripe and PayPal; a self-hosted CRM; and integrations with Customer.io, Xero, Make.com, Meta, Strava and HYROX’s ticketing platform, Vivenu.
A small team built this estate with heavy AI leverage. The next phase is extending it while making it increasingly observable, resilient and easy to operate.
This is a builder’s role. The job spans new product work, integrations and stewardship of the systems already in production. Day to day, much of the work is scoping, building, maintaining, iterating, verifying and jamming with the small team.
You ship quickly with AI-assisted tools, but you never trust code you have not seen behave, whether you wrote it or the AI did. You can read the code properly when something smells wrong.
You will touch production traffic and real donor data from your first month. The Technical Director remains accountable for overall technical direction and high-risk changes, with close review at first and increasing autonomy over your first six months.
