Too often, policies about sex work are shaped without the input, or even the presence, of sex workers themselves. Listening to sex working voices means recognising that people with lived experience are the real experts.

Here’s what it looks like in practice:

Nothing About Us Without Us Decisions that affect sex workers must be led by sex workers. We insist on meaningful participation at every level, from community organising to policy advocacy.
Valuing Lived Expertise Sex workers hold unique insights about safety, health, and human rights. We honour these insights as essential knowledge, not as anecdotal footnotes.
Creating Accessible Ways to Share Experiences We know not everyone can speak openly about their work. We prioritise confidential, trauma-informed spaces where sex workers can share stories, set priorities, and inform strategies without fear of stigma or punishment.
Resourcing Participation Listening is more than inviting feedback. It also means paying people for their time, providing interpretation and childcare, covering transport, and removing barriers that keep people from being heard.
Challenging Stigma We work to create environments where sex workers don’t have to justify their experiences or prove their worth. All stories - whether they are about pride, survival, joy, hardship, or everything in between - deserve respect.

When we truly listen, we build a movement grounded in reality, shaped by those who live it every day, and powerful enough to make lasting change.
