A Master Service Agreement (MSA) turns one-off work into recurring revenue, but only if you walk in prepared. This seven-point checklist sorts you into one of three places: ready to propose today, almost there, or not yet.

It scores one decision: are you ready to walk in and ask for an MSA? It stops the moment a draft agreement exists. Reading the paper you have been handed, and turning a signed agreement into actual work, is a different job with its own tool. See The MSA Review and Activation Checklist.

Three ways to use this scorer

How to use it: in your Google Sheets or Excel copy, in each highlighted Answer cell type 1 if the statement is true today or 0 if it is not. Your score and result update automatically.

How it is scored

Seven statements. Score each one 1 if it is true of your business today, 0 if it is not. Add them up for a total out of 7.

  1. I have identified the real decision maker (property manager, facility director, or owner), not just whoever called.
  2. I can clearly state the response time and the contact I am committing to.
  3. I have a pricing basis I can stand behind.
  4. I have my insurance, safety record, and certification documents ready to attach.
  5. I have an attorney lined up to review before signature.
  6. I can keep the agreement simple enough that a property manager can say yes without a month of legal review.
  7. I have a plan to maintain the relationship and start the renewal conversation 90 days before the term ends.

Those three bands are RocketLevel's working thresholds, and they cover every score from 0 through 7 with no gap and no overlap, so a 4 is Not yet, a 5 is Almost there, and only a clean 7 is Ready to propose.

One of the seven carries a specific number. Statement 7 is about renewal, and the standard it holds you to is that the renewal conversation starts 90 days before the term ends. That 90 days is a working threshold too. It proxies for enough runway to reopen scope and rates while the client still has a real choice, rather than arriving after they have already decided to extend flat or put the work out to bid. Score it 1 only if you can name who owns that conversation, what triggers it, and the date it fires on your next renewal.
