2026 Workshop: Framing and Objectives

This year, we’re coming together to jointly strategize our future engagements with the Rio Conventions at national and global level. The convening will build on the results of last year’s workshop and the work done in the past months in the Global, National and Financing Action Track; with a triple COP year and several national reports ahead of us this year, this is the moment to coordinate our actions to negotiate for women’s land rights.

Similar to last year’s workshop, we’ll focus on two objectives:

<aside> <img src="/icons/bullseye_orange.svg" alt="/icons/bullseye_orange.svg" width="40px" />

Objective 1: Shaping our shared vision and building stronger collaboration through solidarity. We will take time to reflect on how being part of the WLRI community has impacted on you and your work so far. How can we build on this? And how do we want the community to develop in the future? What different roles do we see for the people and organisations that are part of the WLRI?

Note: In the agenda, you will find sessions predominantly contributing to this objective marked in yellow.

Objective 2: Designing action - advancing the three Action Tracks. We will take time to continue work that has started in the Global, the National and the Finance Action Track in the past months and use the opportunity to deepen our discussions and reflect on our commitments to better anchor women’s land rights better in national and global Rio processes, strategies and action, and how to improve access to environmental finance to secure women’s land rights. See more information about the action tracks in the respective Action Track pages.

Note: The discussions in the three Action Tracks will take place in parallel sessions during the convening. In the agenda, you will find sessions predominantly contributing to this objective marked in orange.

Getting together in Nairobi will allow us share personal experiences, brainstorm how we want the future to look like, inspire each other, make new connections, strengthen existing collaborations and find creative and effective ways to influence national and global policies and action plans.
